Paco Singing: They Might Be Giants - "Dead"

A Pink & Green Universe

I have more to add but, I hope more are passed along. I hope others out there can keep this section growing because Paco made music obsessively. In stages, not always but in large chunks and with extreme veracity when he did. And I have very little of it.

There are many things about this project I believe would make him laugh rawkusly. Not the least of which is me referring to his audio work as music. While he emphatically beheld it as such, I spent much of our friendship disagreeing as strongly. But I never told him it was bad because, frankly, it’s awesome. Regrettably, I never told him that either except on rare occasion. And only when he’d finally acquiesce to play me something structured with distinguishable rhythms at least, if not harmonies as well would I give into the gushing otherwise withheld. Of course upon such exaltation he’d command the rest of whatever car ride, with whatever noise experiment, renewing my resolve to never again compliment his unequalled explorations into sound.

This first audio track on your left, though…it’s simple. Just his voice. It is the second to last voicemail he ever left me. We loved They Might Be Giants, and we loved to sing them together. It’s haunting though that the last time I ever heard his voice ring out their words, was with the lyrics to “Dead”.

Ready to convert and post, I’ve approximately 35-45 tracks of word, song and audio exploration. For those interested (as of April 22nd) all that should be available to listen within a month or so. There are also loads of old dats & analogues I need to clean up and go through which will inevitably surface more old recordings Paco was apart of. But that’ll take a while.

In the meantime, do you have any audio of Paco or any of his infinite sound projects?
Please help this archive grow, reach out if you’ve got anything. We’ll give you mad credit and lots of online love.

Paco never stopped creating.
But he never kept anything for himself.
Which makes this memorial really difficult … unless the people he Loved so much, come together. I hope I can make that a little bit easier for us all.

And to those that never got to meet him … take inspiration.
