At Street Tails Animal Rescue, our mission is unwavering: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need. We are committed to pulling local animals out of shelters and providing them with the care and love they deserve. Each life we save reinforces our belief that every animal, regardless of their background, deserves the chance for a brighter future. Our mission is made possible by the dedication of our two full-time staff members, our passionate volunteers, and the guidance of our committed board of directors. Together, we work tirelessly to ensure that every dog that comes through our doors receives the care, attention, and support they need to thrive.
Our Story
Street Tails Animal Rescue (STAR) began in 2001 as a humble one-woman effort led by Lindsay Condefer. Lindsay’s mission was clear: to save one dog at a time. From her pet store, The Chic Petique, Lindsay poured her heart and soul into rescuing dogs and finding them loving homes.
In 2010, with the steadfast support of friends, supporters, and a dedicated board of directors, Lindsay’s vision expanded. Street Tails Animal Rescue transitioned to its own dedicated location, a testament to its commitment to making a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned dogs in the Philadelphia area.

What sets Street Tails Animal Rescue apart is our distinctive approach, powered by just two full-time staff members. While many larger organizations boast extensive teams, our small but mighty team oversees every aspect of our rescue operation. From fundraising and social media outreach to the hands-on care of each and every dog that enters our doors, our dedicated staff ensures that every animal receives the attention, love, and support they need to thrive.
